We meet one Saturday each month to volunteer with Dorcas Home Care Service to deliver lunch to homebound persons living in Commonwealth, Holland, Ghim Moh and Clementi. We meet at 10 am at Block 1 Holland Close to collect meal packets from the Dorcas staff, and then proceed to deliver the meals to recipients in our assigned districts. In this ministry we have opportunity to bring some human contact and conversation to some who otherwise might not see anyone else in a day, and to check on their wellbeing.
We welcome anyone, with or without own transportation, to join us in this work. If you would like to be involved, contact Brian Chirnside or Deacon Yaw Kai.
Guest Workers' Dorm Outreach
This work started late April 2020, during the national Circuit Breaker (CB), when we joined Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach (AGWO) in adopting two factory-converted dormitories (FCD) in the Sungei Kadut area. The initial work involved urgent meal provision and delivery of pre-dawn meals during the Ramadan period. The feeding ministry ceased after two months when employers started to provide meals for their workers. Contacts made on the ground gradually developed into friendships which continue even as some workers moved out to other dormitories. It is indeed a blessing to pray for and with (some of) them even as we learn of the challenges and struggles they face here in Singapore.
